The waterfalls that become the Darma river, below the Panchachuli glacier

Panchachuli base camp trail, Darma valley, Pithoragarh · June 2024

A group of waterfalls drops aggressively down a mountain wall, below the Panchachuli glacier. The waterfalls are massive, but they appear smaller — because the Panchachuli peaks around them are so much bigger.

The water comes from the glacier above and it’s the start of the Darma river, seen fom the trail between Dantu village and the Panchachuli base camp on a June afternoon.
