Naukuchiatal lake between monsoon showers

This is the Naukuchiatal lake in the Nainital district. The name comes from its nine corners. The view is from the trail that climbs above the KMVN guesthouse.

The frame is from an August morning in 2021, taken between two monsoon showers. The rain had kept everyone else away — no boats on the water, no visitors on the road or the trails around the lake. The only sound after the last shower stopped was water still dripping off the pine needles.
